The Department of Defense has identified 3,859 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:

BANKS, Derek R., 24, Sgt., Army; Newport News, Va.; Army National Guard.

BOOKER, Kenneth R., 25, Sgt., Army; Vevay, Ind.; Second Infantry Division.

GANCZEWSKI, Steven C., 22, Sgt., Army; Niagara Falls, N.Y., Third Battalion, 75th Rangers.

LEWIS, Mason L., 26, Sgt., Army; Gloucester, Va.; Third Infantry Division.

SIETSEMA, Ashley, 20, Specialist, Army; Melrose Park, Ill.; Army National Guard.
